It's a little odd that this is the default behaviour, as I have to imagine that many people use this sort of service to migrate to a different music service and then retire their previous account. I think the only way to do so would be to resubscribe to Apple Music, which defeats the purpose. Now, as far as I know, there's no way for me to recover the deleted songs (the playlists are still there, just empty, so I can't use the recovery option in Spotify's Account Management). When I next opened the app, it perceived my inaccessible Apple Music playlists as empty, and promptly deleted every track from my Spotify playlists.
